Charming. Hip. Cosy rooms. Popular among couples. Built by a visionary architect in 1925, Portmeirion Village & Castell Deudraeth overlooks the beautiful Dywryd Estaury. Portmeirion is a unique village in Wales with various architectural styles, beautiful walks, and a tranquil setting. I rate this as one of the coolest and most ELEGANT boutique hotels in Porthmadog.
Delightful property. Relaxing atmosphere. Comfortable beds. Situated within Snowdonia National Park, Aberdunant Hall is a 17th-century property set within 200-acres of woodland on an idyllic upmarket Holiday Home Park. With free onsite parking, it retains many original features, such as beamed ceilings, fireplaces and stained glass. Guests can relax in the garden or on the terrace. All rooms at Aberdunant Hall have a flat-screen TV, en suite bathroom and complimentary tea/coffee facilities. In the mornings, guests can enjoy continental or full Welsh breakfast in the Glaslyn Lounge. Al fresco dining can be enjoyed on the terrace, which boasts panoramic views of the mountains. Family meals and Sunday lunches are served in The Glaslyn Lounge, and intimate dining is available in Y Bistro. A carvery is served every Sunday and features a choice of 3 locally sourced meats. Hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking can be enjoyed within Snowdonia park, and the harbour town of Porthmadog and Black Rock Sands beach are just 3 miles away. Watersports such as jet-skiing, diving and windsurfing can be arranged and facilities are a 40-minute drive away.Show full description
This is likely the most STYLISH luxury hotel in Porthmadog.
Superb breakfast. This independently owned, 2 AA Rosette-winning home-from-home is the only hotel in Porthmadog. It offers modern cuisine, and a bar with locally brewed cask ales, and free WiFi and car parking throughout the hotel. The full-service Royal Sportsman Hotel is at the quieter end of Porthmadog High Street, by the A487 and A497 roads. The Tourist Information Centre and the Picture Postcard Walk can be reached on foot. The property's 2 AA Rosette restaurant offers breakfast, lunch (including a traditional Sunday roast), afternoon tea, and dinner. It also has a gastro-bar that serves real local ales and a patio and lounge area. Guests and non-residents alike are welcome. Within walking distance of The Royal Sportsman is the heritage Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway terminal, which has lines to Blaenau Ffestiniog and Caernarfon. Train rides head across the Glaslyn Estuary and through Snowdonia to Blaenau Ffestiniog. The Royal Sportsman is rated 3 stars by the AA and Visit Wales. It was built with local slate, and the bar and lounge have original stone and slate fireplaces.Show full description
